The 14th and final round of the championship took place between Gukesh and Ding. In the 13 rounds, both had won 2-2 matches, while the remaining 9 matches were drawn
If this match was a draw, then both of them would have had 7-7 points and then the decision would have been made by the tiebreaker
The Indian sensation defeated the Chinese Grandmaster in this last match and won the title by a margin of 7.5 – 6.5
Gukesh is only the second Indian player after Viswanathan Anand to become a world champion. He will get Rs 18 crore as a reward for his victory
At the age of 18, Gukesh became the youngest chess champion in the world by winning this tournament played in Singapore
