Shubman Gill Unlikely To Play Second Test In Adelaide

Team India might have to wait for a bit longer for the availability of their regular No.3 player Shubman Gill

It is likely that Gill will be missing the second Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide which will kick start on December 6

A source stated that the right-handed batter has been advised to take rest for a bit more weeks and will require some more time for recovery

“Gill was advised a 10-14 day rest by the medical specialist after suffering that injury. He won’t play in the practice match on the weekend, and is doubtful at the moment for the second Test too. Let’s see how much his injury has healed, how his finger feels. Even after it has healed, he’ll need some quality practice before playing a Test match.”

Former Indian selector Jatin Pranjape said that Gill will take two to four weeks to heal, so he could miss two to three Test matches

“I know from past experience that finger injuries, especially like the one he has suffered to the thumb take two to four weeks to heal, so don’t be surprised if he misses two to three Test matches.”

Now the concern is that if Gill will be missing the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy then who will be playing at the No.3 spot

In the first Test match, in absence of both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Kl Rahul got the chance to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal

Now Rohit Sharma is available for the second Test so it is clear that he will open with Yashasvi Jaiswal and maybe KL Rahul will get a chance to bat at No.3, so Devdutt Padikkal will not get a chance in the Playing XI

India won the first Test match of the series by beating the Aussies with a 295-runs victory in Perth, their next target will be to beat the opposition in the second Test in Adelaide
