On Day 3 of the first Test between India and Australia, the Indian star batter Virat Kohli ended the drought of his century, producing a stellar performance scoring his 81st international century

He was going through a poor form in his career for a long time, which grabbed everyone’s attention, in five home Tests he scored only one half-century

The former India head coach Ravi Shastri praised Virat Kohli for his 81st century, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who has six centuries down under

“Seven hundred in Australia. The big stage, the big ground. One of the bounciest pitches in the world. I doubt an overseas player in the last 15 years has come to Australia and played in this fashion.”

Shastri also said that if he plays two tests and gets two hundreds then there won’t be a better stage to set up the series

“He plays two Test matches and he gets two hundreds. You can’t get a better stage and to set up the series.”

Further Shastri stated that they call him the King, to get a hundred in the very first match of the series, it is terrific and it is ominous from Australia’s point of view

“They call him the King. To get a hundred in the very first Test match of the series. It is a terrific signal for India. It is ominous from Australia’s point of view.”
“But look at the joy. It’s a popular hundred and I think fans the world over wanted to see this bloke come to Australia and perform again.”
