The first day of the auction is all done with the bids of many big players on November 24 at Jeddah on Sunday

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rishabh Pant turned out to be the most expensive player on the first day of the auction with a whopping amount of Rs 27 crore

He has become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Sanjiv Goenka, LSG owner, said that this was part of their plan as Pant was on the list and they had kept Rs crore for him

“Well, this was part of our plan, Rishabh was on the list, we had kept Rs crore for him. 27 was slightly up. But, we are happy that we have him. He is an outstanding player, a match-winner. Fans should be very very happy to see him as part of LSG.”

After the successful bid on Sunday, Shashwat LSG owner's son said that bringing Rishabh Pant to the franchise for Rs 27 crore was their plan and they put in such a big amount for him so that Delhi Capitals (DC) could not use their ‘Right to Match’ card

“No matter how much you plan, things do not always work out like that. This (getting Pant for 27 crore) was very well to our plan. It was not really a magic number, we just wanted a number so that the RTM does not get exercised.”

Pant is the most expensive player in the auction, representing Delhi Capitals for his entire IPL career since 2016, playing 111 matches scoring 3284 runs with an average of 35.31, smashing one half-century and 18 half-centuries

Shreyas Iyer becomes the second with Rs 26.75 brought by Punjab Kings (PBKS)
