Gerald Coetzee was fined 50 per cent of his match fee and given a demerit point for dissenting during the recent T20 series against India at home.

Coetzee was charged with using inappropriate language towards an umpire during the fourth T20 match against India in Johannesburg last Friday.

It is believed that the fast bowler made this comment towards the umpire after a ball was called wide in the 15th over of India's innings.

Coetzee pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence, which included an official reprimand.

India eventually defeated the Proteas by a huge margin of 135 runs to clinch the series 3-1, their biggest win over the hosts.

The 24-year-old Coetzee gave a poor performance, conceding 43 runs without taking any wicket, while India scored a huge score of 283 for one wicket thanks to centuries from Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma.

Coetzee did not perform in the third T20I as well and plundered 51 runs in just three overs.

Earlier, Dutch captain Scott Edwards and Oman fast bowler Sufyan Mahmood also faced sanctions from the ICC .

They breached the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20 match between the two teams in Al Amrat on Saturday.
