Though initially involved in legal practice, Patel became an influential leader after joining the Indian freedom struggle.

His involvement in the Kheda Satyagraha (1918) was pivotal, where he led farmers to resist high taxes, earning the title of “Sardar,” which means leader.

After independence in 1947, Patel's diplomacy united 550+ princely states into India, earning him "The Unifier of India."

He earned the nickname "The Iron Man" for his unwavering courage and no-nonsense approach, as Patel remained steadfast in his resolve.

Though he faced opposition from political rivals, his strong character made him widely admired. His relationship with Jawaharlal Nehru was complex yet grounded in mutual respect.

Vallabhbhai Patel passed away on December 15, 1950.

Today, his legacy is immortalized in the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, standing in honor of his role in India’s unification.

He has rightfully earned the title of Iron Man of India, not only for his deeds but also for his unyielding spirit that continues to influence the nation.
