In Hinduism, rivers are revered as embodiments of mother and goddess figures. They have been venerated by people for ages. However, there is one river that had to endure the curse and wrath of Mother Sita.
The Falgu River, which was cursed by Mother Sita, is neither worshiped to this day nor does its water flow. Let's find out why Mother Sita cursed the Falgu River.
As per the legend, during their exile, Sita went to Gaya with Rama and Lakshman to perform the shradh ceremony for King Dasharatha. Following this, Rama and Lakshman began gathering the materials needed for the ceremony.
Shriram and Lakshman ji arrived very late, and by then, V Sita had already completed the Shraddha Karma for King Dasharatha Ji. Mother Sita created the pind from the sand of the Falgu river and offered it for father Dasharatha.
Mata Sita observed this pind daan and blessed the Falgu river, a cow, Tulsi, Akshay Vat, and a Brahmin who were present there.
After a considerable period, when Shri Ram and Lakshman ji came back, Mother Sita narrated everything about Shraddha to them, but Ram remained unconvinced.
After this, Mother Sita asked all the witnesses about it, but after cutting the banyan tree, all the witnesses lied for fear of the wrath of Shri Ram and Lakshman
Due to which Mother Sita became angry and she cursed the Falgu river that it would always remain dry. Along with this, he also gave the boon of long life and always revered to the banyan tree who spoke the truth
