Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the second time. His efforts for human rights and democracy have been recognized. However, he is currently in jail on corruption charges.

Despite being in jail, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for a second time. This nomination, recognizing his contributions to human rights and democracy, was announced by the Pakistan World Alliance and a Norwegian political party. Imran Khan was previously nominated for the same award in 2019.

It is worth mentioning that Imran Khan was nominated for the Peace Prize in 2019 for his purported efforts to ease tensions with India, and a resolution supporting him was introduced in the Pakistani Parliament.

The motion emphasized that Imran Khan's decision to release Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, an Indian Air Force pilot who was captured after his aircraft was downed, contributed to reducing tensions between Pakistan and India.

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is presently imprisoned in Pakistan facing multiple charges. Since August 2023, he has been held in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. He received a 14-year prison sentence for power abuse and corruption. Previously, in April 2022, he was ousted from office following a no-confidence vote.

Each year, the Nobel Committee receives hundreds of nominations, and the winner's name is revealed eight months afterward.
