As reported by the Dhaka Tribune, Bangladesh has called off the participation of its judicial officers in the training programs scheduled for February at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal and a state judicial academy in India.

The decision was announced by Bangladesh's Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in a circular released on Sunday. The annulment has been carried out in accordance with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh's directive.

Judicial training session cancelled

The cancellation order was announced one day after the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha revealed that 50 lower judiciary judges were set to attend a one-day training program at the National Judicial Academy and the State Judicial Academy in Madhya Pradesh beginning on February 10.

On December 30, a notification was released permitting 50 officers to participate in the training. As reported by the Dhaka Tribune, the appointed officials included the Assistant Judge, Senior Assistant Judge, Joint District and Sessions Judge, Additional District and Sessions Judge, District and Sessions Judge, along with other officers of equivalent rank.

The Indian Government covered all training costs, with the Bangladeshi Government making no financial contribution. The cancelled event was part of a bilateral agreement established during Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India in April 2017.

According to the agreement, judicial training was to be provided at the National Judicial Academy of India and other institutions to improve the skills and knowledge of Bangladeshi judicial officers.
