On January 20, President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the new President of the United States. He is currently focused on assembling his team and has revealed several new appointments, including Harmeet K. Dhillon from Chandigarh.

Trump shared on Truth Social, "I am pleased to announce my nomination of Harmeet for the position of Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice."

Throughout her career, Harmeet has consistently advocated for the protection of our fundamental civil liberties, including opposing the use of big tech to censor free speech. She has represented Christians who were barred from praying together during the COVID transition period and has taken legal action against corporations that implement awareness policies to discriminate against employees.

Who is Harmeet K. Dhillon?

Dhillon is recognized as one of the nation's leading election attorneys, dedicated to ensuring that only legal votes are counted. He graduated from Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School, and has clerked for the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Harmeet is a well-respected figure within the Sikh community. In her new position at the Department of Justice, she will work tirelessly to uphold our constitutional rights, enforcing civil rights and election laws with fairness and determination.

Dhillon recited the Ardas at the Republican National Convention in July, after which she faced racial attacks. Last year, she ran for chairman of the Republican National Committee but was unsuccessful. At 54, Dhillon moved to the US with her parents from India as a child and made history as the first Indian-American to appear on the GOP Convention stage in Cleveland in 2016.

It is to be noted that not only Harmet but several other prominent individuals of Indian descent are poised to take on significant roles in Donald Trump's cabinet, potentially contributing to his second term in the White House. They are:

  1. Vivek Ramaswamy: The biotech entrepreneur and former 2024 Republican presidential candidate has been mentioned for high-level positions, such as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Ramaswamy's political profile aligns with Trump's "America First" agenda, and he has expressed interest in shaping immigration policy

  2. Kash Patel: A staunch Trump ally and former National Security Council official, Patel could be tapped for a top national security role, including National Security Adviser or Director of the CIA. His earlier involvement in intelligence reform and loyalty to Trump positions him as a key figure in the administration's security policies

  3. Bobby Jindal: Former Louisiana governor and health policy advocate, Jindal is being considered for the Secretary of Health and Human Services, where his experience in health policy reform could influence major healthcare initiatives

These appointments reflect the growing influence of Indian-Americans in Trump's second administration, with figures who blend conservative principles with their cultural backgrounds.
