Instagram users now have the ability to schedule Direct Messages (DMs) for future delivery, enhancing the app's messaging features.

According to The Verge, this function enables users to schedule text messages exclusively, offering greater flexibility in communication. Instagram users can now schedule messages by long-pressing the 'Send' button in a chat and selecting the desired date and time for the message to be sent.

Although this feature adds an extra level of convenience for users who want to schedule messages, it currently only supports text-based messages. According to The Verge, photos, videos, and GIFs must still be sent right away.

According to Instagram's help page, once you schedule a message, the app will notify you in the chat about the number of pending scheduled messages.

Users can tap on the notification to see the scheduled message if they wish to make changes. They also have the option to delete the message or send it right away by long-pressing it.

Currently, the scheduling feature allows users to plan their messages up to 29 days in advance, according to The Verge. This new feature is part of Instagram's continuous efforts to enhance its messaging platform, which already offers functionalities such as message editing, photo annotation, and live location sharing, similar to Snapchat's features.
