Indian Government Approves Satellite Spectrum

Starlink: The wait for the Starlink service has been going on for a long time. At present, the government has cleared the way for satellite spectrum allocation. In such a situation, there is hope that the Starlink service will be launched in India soon. In this service, the fastest internet service will be available directly from the satellite without wire and mobile tower.

Starlink has Accepted "Data Localization"

The road to Elon Musk's Starlink in India has become easier. Starlink's satellite broadband service license application in the country is almost certain to go ahead. Starlink has accepted the "Data Localization and Security Requirements" of the Department of Telecom (DoT). Both of them have agreed on many things related to security. For a few days, this matter was stuck on agreement.

Roads to Starlink are Easy

This was a big deal in Starlink and Jeff Bezos' Kuiper's entry into India, which has now been accepted by Starlink. The Department of Telecom has said in the guidelines that whatever satellite company will work in India. He has to store the data within the country.

Increased Difficulties of Private Operators

Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea have expressed displeasure over Starlink's coming to India. Jio and Airtel have been insisting on allocation of spectrum through auction. They believe that the auction should provide a level playing field to the old operators who buy spectrum and install infrastructure like telecom towers. However, Starlink says that its service is different from telecom companies.

More Trouble for Airtel and Jio

Recently, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in an interview that spectrum will be allocated for satellite broadband, not auctioned. After this statement, even more trouble has arisen for Airtel and Jio, while it has made the way easier for Starlink.
