Maharashtra gets 10 Lakh new houses under PM Awas Yojana

PM Modi approves 10 lakh new homes for Maharashtra's rural areas

Maharashtra has received approval for 10,29,957 new houses in 2025-26 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this gift. With this approval, the total number of sanctioned houses in the state has gone up to 44,70,829.

Maharashtra has been granted a significant benefit through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned 10,29,957 new homes for the state in the financial year 2025-26. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this benefit.

Devendra Fadnavis wrote in an X post, "Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, thank you! After a record approval of 20 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) for Maharashtra, the Modi government has now sanctioned an additional 10,29,957 houses for the financial year 2025-26.

He mentioned that previously, 3,340,872 houses were approved for the state. With the latest approval, the total number of houses sanctioned for Maharashtra is now 4,470,829. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for their significant cooperation.

Earlier, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sent a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to inform him about the government's decision. 'The Ministry of Rural Development has been executing a key scheme of the Government of India, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), aimed at achieving 'Housing for All' in rural areas across the country since April 1, 2016.'

The aim of the program is to support qualified rural families in building permanent homes with essential facilities. The Union Cabinet, during its meeting on August 9, 2024, sanctioned the extension of the program for an additional five years, lasting until March 2029, to facilitate the construction of 20 million more houses to address the increasing housing needs in rural regions. Since the program's launch, your state has been assigned a total target of 3,340,872 houses under PMAY-G.
