Mumbai: Maharashtra is experiencing a swift rise in COVID-19 cases. The Health Department's most recent report indicates that 65 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the state on Sunday. Among these, 22 cases were identified in Mumbai, 25 in Pune, nine in Thane, six in Pimpri-Chinchwad, two in Kolhapur, and one in Nagpur.

However, the relief news is that 300 patients have also recovered in the state. The total number of active COVID-19 patients is 506 at present.

Since January, the state has conducted tests on 11,501 swab samples, identifying 814 individuals with this contagious illness. Among these cases, 463 were reported in Mumbai alone. Since January, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of eight people in Maharashtra.

Seven patients passed away due to severe health complications. The health department reported that the first patient had hypocalcemia and nephrotic syndrome. The second patient was battling cancer. The third patient had experienced a stroke and was having seizures. The fourth patient was dealing with diabetic ketoacidosis and a lower respiratory tract infection. The fifth patient was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease.

The sixth patient had diabetes and had been experiencing paralysis since 2014. The seventh patient was dealing with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and dilated aortic regurgitation. The eighth patient was a 47-year-old woman who reported having a fever and difficulty breathing.

The health department reports that the state is experiencing a recurring increase in Covid cases, a trend not confined to Maharashtra, as other states and some countries are facing similar situations. The government and health departments are urging citizens to stay alert, wear masks, and steer clear of crowded places.
