Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a Rs 1010-crore city gas distribution project in West Bengal, which will provide piped natural gas to 2.5 lakh households, over 100 commercial establishments and industries and CNG to vehicles. This initiative will reduce pollution and create new employment opportunities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the City Gas Distribution project in the districts of Alipurduar and Behar in West Bengal today. This project, with a budget surpassing Rs 1010 crore, aims to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to over 250,000 households, more than 100 enterprises and industries, and compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicles through the construction of around 19 CNG stations, in line with the government's Minimum Action Programme (MWP) goals.

Speaking at the event, PM Modi highlighted India's remarkable advancements in the energy sector over recent years. He noted that the nation is swiftly transitioning towards an energy-centric economy. The city gas distribution network now covers over 5,520 districts, and CNG has transformed transportation, leading to reduced pollution. Consequently, public health is improving and the economic strain is lessening.

Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Project

Prime Minister Modi announced that more than 310 million citizens now have access to LPG connections, fulfilling the goal of supplying gas to every household. To support this, the government has expanded the gas distribution network nationwide.

The Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Project is a significant development in the gas economy, establishing a pipeline in eastern India. These initiatives by the Indian government are creating employment opportunities and boosting growth in gas-related industries.
