The central government plans to eliminate Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026. Regarding Bastar's removal from Naxalism, the District Magistrate mentioned that the Ministry of Home Affairs' decision has led to the cessation of financial aid to Bastar. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) classifies districts impacted by Naxalism as affected by Left Wing Extremism.
Bastar will now get a new identity
Bastar district, known for its tribal population, cultural richness, dense forests, mineral resources, and historical legacy, has recently received positive news from the double engine government. Naxalism has been entirely eradicated in Bastar, paving the way for gradual development in the area. Previously classified under the LWE category, Bastar used to receive substantial government funding for development and countering Naxalism. However, the district has now been removed from the LWE category.
