The Bihar Government's Department of Animal and Fisheries Resources has launched a significant program for fish farmers in Nalanda district. As part of this initiative, fish farmers, self-help groups, cooperatives, and small business owners participating in the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah Yojana (PM-MKSSY) are eligible for performance grants of up to 35 percent, with a maximum limit of Rs 2 crore.

This initiative is designed to enhance fish production in the state by establishing processing units and upgrading fish quality. The scheme aims to provide economic advantages to fishermen and create new job opportunities in the sector. The District Fisheries Officer--Chief Executive Officer has released a notice regarding this and urged beneficiaries to apply promptly.

Who will get the benefit of the scheme?

In addition to conventional fishermen, this scheme will also extend its benefits to fish farmers, fish vendors, small-scale fish enterprises, cooperative societies, and both private and public companies operating in this field. The aim is to structure the unorganized fisheries sector and enhance their economic empowerment.

Signing up on the NFDP portal will grant a digital identity and a Rs 100 reward

To receive the scheme's benefits, beneficiaries must sign up on the National Fisheries Development Portal (NFDP-nfdp.dof.gov.in). The registration is straightforward, needing just an Aadhaar number, a mobile number linked to Aadhaar, and bank account information.

Training and financial planning will also help.

The NFDP portal serves not only as a registration tool but also supports fish farmers and their organizations with training, financial insights, and strategic planning.
