On Saturday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav reaffirmed his promise to appoint Tejashwi Yadav as the chief minister of Bihar if his party secures victory in the forthcoming assembly elections. Additionally, he stated, without mentioning any names, that he will not succumb to anyone's pressure.

Speaking at a meeting in Nalanda, Lalu Prasad called on the public to come together and back the RJD in establishing the next government in Bihar. 'We must all unite to form our government in Bihar.' Tejashwi Yadav must be appointed as the chief minister, and no one should lower their head. I have never bowed down to anyone and never will. We must all unite to safeguard this country.

'Mai-Behin Maan' Scheme

Lalu Prasad emphasized Tejashwi Yadav's election promises, particularly the one initiated in Jharkhand, by pledging to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women under the 'Mai-Behin Maan' scheme. Additionally, he vowed to offer 200 units of free electricity to households and increase job and employment opportunities for the youth.

Following the establishment of the new government led by Hemant Soren in Jharkhand, Tejashwi Yadav discussed the adoption and re-implementation of the Maiya Samman scheme in Bihar as the Mai-Behen Maan Yojana. Lalu Prasad Yadav's remarks came at a time when the Bihar assembly elections are scheduled for this year.

Bihar Gearing up Extensively for the upcoming Elections

He stated that the RJD is gearing up for a robust electoral battle in Bihar. Experts in politics think that his emphasis on Tejashwi Yadav's leadership indicates that the party will back the former deputy chief minister and propose the cricketer-turned-politician as the candidate for chief minister in the forthcoming elections.

Lalu Prasad's trip to Nalanda is viewed as an effort to rally RJD supporters and bolster opposition solidarity before the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Lately, Lalu Prasad has only visited Patna and no other districts. This visit is particularly important because Nalanda is regarded as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's stronghold.
