In a crackdown on drug trafficking, police apprehended a woman in Doda district for her involvement in illegal drug activities and confiscated 6 grams of heroin from her. The suspect has been identified as Shakila Begum, a resident of Sadiqabad Dak Mahalla in Doda.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Mehta confirmed the arrest, stating that the operation was conducted this morning under the leadership of Doda Station House Officer (SHO) Parvez Khanday and DSP Headquarters Ajay Anand.

Based on intelligence gathered from the prior arrest of an individual named Babar, who provided vital details about Shakeela Begum's role in drug trafficking, the police have taken this action.

Acting on precise information regarding his return to Doda, the police executed a raid and confiscated 6 grams of heroin.

Speaking to reporters, SSP Sandeep Mehta said, "An FIR was filed in early 2025, leading to the arrest of a young man named Babar, from whom approximately 10 grams of heroin were confiscated. During questioning, Babar disclosed the identity of a woman involved in the drug trade. Based on this information, the police located her in Doda and, upon searching, found an additional 6 grams of heroin in her possession."

SSP Sandeep Mehta said, "No individual engaged in trafficking, regardless of whether they are a woman, child, or elderly, will be exempt from punishment."

The apprehended individual is now being closely monitored as authorities ramp up their efforts to break down the drug network in the region. SSP Mehta also noted that the police are encountering growing attempts to hide the identities of those involved in smuggling, with suspects frequently using other people's names to avoid detection.

He assured that the police are actively following leads and are dedicated to apprehending everyone involved in the illegal drug trade. Authorities are intensifying their vigilance and planning more raids to halt the influx of illegal substances in the area. These arrests are part of a broader initiative to reduce the drug trade in the region.
