The Asia Cup 2025 is just a few days away, and before that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that the five reserve players—Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel—will not be travelling with the main squad for Dubai. BCCI already revealed the 15-man squad earlier this month, announcing Shubman Gill as the vice captain of the team and Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of the team.
India's campaign will start on September 10 against the UAE, Pakistan on the 14th, and Oman on the 19th, respectively.
According to the latest report, Jaiswal, Prasidh, Sundar, Parag, and Jurel will not be travelling with the main squad for the tournament starting on September 9.
It is being stated that,
"No, the standby players will not be travelling with the main squad to Dubai."
The players missing out will reach Dubai in a different manner from their respective locations, unlike in situations where all team members gather at the same location before the departure.
This decision was made by considering the convenience of the players, as some of them are playing domestic cricket.
It is stated that,
"All the players will arrive in Dubai by the evening of September 4, and the first nets session will be held on September 5 at the ICC Academy. Factoring in the logistical convenience, the players will be allowed to fly in to Dubai from their respective cities."
"Obviously, a few will travel from Mumbai, but to ask some of the others to first come to Mumbai and then fly to Dubai doesn't make sense. In any case, Dubai is a short-duration flight compared to other international flights."
Before the Asia Cup, some players are busy playing in the Duleep Trophy, including Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, who are playing for North Zone against East Zone in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal.
