The Asia Cup 2025 squad has finally been revealed by the selection committee after BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and Suryakumar Yadav reached the headquarters. The press conference started at 2:45 PM. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar, T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, and Devajit Saikia were among the people present in the meeting. Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma were supposed to be the top 3 players, and that turned out to be the same in the squad too.
Earlier there were reports that Test captain Shubman Gill might not make it to the squad; after the release, it was quite shocking to see him as the vice captain of the team in the Asia Cup 2025. This step might be made after thinking of the future, that India will be playing the T20 World Cup 2026 in India, and Shubman Gill is one of the key players of India. While Shreyas Iyer failed to make his place in the squad for the tournament that will commence on September 9 in the UAE.
Players like Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, and Washington Sundar were in the race but failed to earn a spot. While Jitesh Sharma earned his place as the second wicketkeeper in the squad.
It is to be noted that the Asia Cup 2025 will be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from September 9 to 28.
