The topic of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is raising concerns one after the other, and it has become a hot topic in recent times. There is a player on whom every team has their eyes, and that is none other than Rajasthan Royals' current skipper Sanju Samson and Indian T20I opener.
The team that has recently joined the race is Kolkata Knight Riders. As the RR skipper is on the auction table for next year's competition, recent reports stated that KKR is considering shuffling Angkrish Raghuvanshi or Ramandeep Singh to take Samson into the team.
Both the players are giving their best in domestic cricket and are players for the long-term future, but RR has to think if they fit into current plans or not. The Jaipur team went through a lot of problems in 2025, and that was the pace attack in bowling and lower middle order batting. In exchange for Samson, the two players they are getting do not fit in this situation; however, they can turn out to be assets for the team, as RR is the team that does not fear supporting youngsters.
SANJU SAMSON A GOOD ONE FOR KKR IN IPL 2026?
Among all these things, Samson fits perfectly in KKR, as he will be portraying the role of wicketkeeper and will be taking the place of an overseas player in the opening position. Both the teams have to understand the needs of teams. Samson is a retainer of INR 18 crore, which suits his spot, but the youngsters combine for only 7 crore. Any such deal will be involving cash now.
KKR is not the only team that is showing interest in Samson, but before that, the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were very serious about taking him to the team. However, RR demanded skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, all-rounder Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja in place of Samson.
Among all these things now, it will be interesting to see which team Samson is likely to go for in IPL 2026.
