In the ongoing fourth Test against England at Manchester, as soon as the news of Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant's ruling out of the remainder of the series broke, the selection committee reached out to Ishan Kishan as the replacement. But according to the reports, Kishan responded with a big no, as he had an injury due to which he did not go to England for the final test of the series.
It is almost confirmed that he won't be available to travel to England due to his injury concerns. Selectors did reach out to him, but it has been conveyed that he can't make it to England due to an ankle injury. Destiny gave him a chance, but that destiny only snatched the golden opportunity from Kishan.
According to recent reports, it has been stated that Ishan got an injury after falling from a scooty; the injury was a bit serious, as he got stitches on his left ankle. Hence, opting out from the last test was the only option left with him. Recently, he was seen playing in the County Championship for Nottinghamshire, scoring 87 and 77 runs, and impressed everyone with his performance with the bat.
The report also stated that N. Jagadeesan is expected to join the squad ahead of the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The selection committee and management were looking out for Ishan Kishan as an option, but later it came out that he is not.
If we take a look at Jagadeesan's cricket career, then he has played a total of 52 first-class matches, scoring 3,373 runs at an average of 47.50 with 14 half centuries and 10 centuries.
