The third Test between India and England was at a very interesting mode on Day 2 as Bumrah took the crucial wickets of Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Chris Woakes. But on the second day a controversy took place regarding the quality of the ball that had been given for the bowling.

To this, the former legendary Indian cricketer raised his voice on the controversy, stating that if this would have happened in India, then the situation would have been something different. In the third test, many balls were being changed, as both teams were not satisfied with the ball's quality and durability.

The Indian team changed the second new ball twice in the first innings of the third test at Lord's, with the replacement ball lasting hardly half a session. The dry summer is stated as the main reason for the drastic drop in the quality of the ball.

Shubman Gill

Skipper Shubman Gill was involved in many chats with the umpires regarding the ball and the choice of replacement on Day 2.

To this Gavaskar stated if this would have happened in India, then the British media and experts would have made big headlines in their country.

He said,

"Even from here you can see that is not a 10-over ball; that is like a 20-over-old ball. If this would have happened in India, where if there were not enough balls similar to the ones replaced, the British media would have certainly made a big deal out of it."

The talk about the quality of Dukes balls started itself in the first test at Headingley, Leeds. At that time, Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant requested a ball change, but umpires denied his call, leading to him throwing away the ball in anger. After that, Pant was punished with a fine and a demerit point for his actions.
