Prasidh Krishna Owns Up to Poor Bowling in England Test Defeat

India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has openly accepted that he did not bowl well in the first Test match against England at Leeds, a game that India lost by five wickets. Prasidh’s honesty has grabbed attention, as he admitted that his line and length were not up to the mark, which allowed the England batters to dominate.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, Prasidh said, “I definitely did not bowl the lengths that I wanted to. It took me some time to get used to the slope on that side. No excuses though — as a professional, I should have adjusted faster. I take complete responsibility for it and will try to do better next time.”

Prasidh came under heavy criticism after giving away more than 200 runs in the match. Many former cricketers also pointed out that he looked off-rhythm and failed to maintain consistent areas. Reflecting on his bowling, Prasidh explained that in the first innings, he bowled a bit short. Ideally, he wanted to bowl in the 6 to 8-meter length area, but couldn’t execute that consistently. In the second innings, the pitch slowed down a little, which helped him adjust slightly, allowing him to pitch some balls just behind the 8-meter mark and sometimes fuller to try for wickets.

He added, “Every time I came out to bowl, my aim was to keep it tight, bowl maidens, and build pressure. I wasn’t looking to give away boundaries. But yes, the outfield was quick. Sometimes, I tried bouncers, sometimes they edged the ball, and runs kept coming. Honestly, my lines and lengths were not perfect most of the time, and England took advantage.”

The situation could become more challenging for India, as reports from the Indian Express suggest that Jasprit Bumrah might miss the second Test starting July 2. If that happens, the pressure will increase even more on Prasidh to lead India’s pace attack, especially since India are already trailing 0-1 in the five-match series.

Despite all this, Prasidh remains determined to learn and bounce back. He promised he would work on his mistakes and return stronger in the next match.

India’s bowling unit will need to regroup quickly. With the next Test not far away, Prasidh’s form could be crucial. Fans will hope that he finds his rhythm and delivers the kind of spells that can turn a Test match around. For now, his candid admission shows he’s ready to own up to his shortcomings, the first step towards fixing them and helping India level the series.
