The first Test match being played between India and England at Headingley Ground in Leeds got off to a great start for Team India. On the first day, India scored 359 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, with centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill being the biggest highlight. Gill is unbeaten on 127, while Rishabh Pant is playing on 65.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a strong century in the very first Test innings of his England tour. He completed his century in 144 balls, which is his fifth century of his Test career and third century abroad. His brilliant innings gave India a solid start. First he shared a 91-run partnership with KL Rahul and then added 129 runs with Shubman Gill.

Coach predicts two more centuries.

Yashasvi's childhood coach, Jwala Singh, is very happy with this innings of Jaiswal.

He said,

"I hope Yashasvi will score at least two more centuries in this series. I was expecting two centuries from him on the Australia tour, but it did not happen. But the way he has worked hard in England, it will definitely pay off."

Jwala Singh

Jwala Singh believes that Jaiswal is getting better with every match and his mental strength has been the biggest reason for reaching this point. Jwala Singh also compared Yashasvi's innings to Dada, i.e., Sourav Ganguly. He said,

"The shots Yashasvi played in this innings were very controlled and classic. I remembered Sourav Ganguly's 131-run debut innings played at Lord's. There is a different class in the innings of left-handed batsmen, and this innings of Yashasvi will be remembered for a long time."

However, Jaiswal's century did not last long, and England captain Ben Stokes dismissed him at the beginning of the third session. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 101 runs, but by then India had reached a good position. After this, Gill and Pant took charge and did not give England any chance to make a comeback till the end of the day's play.

Will India's bat work on the second day as well?

Now everyone's eyes are on the second day's play. Will Gill and Pant strengthen India's lead, or will England's bowlers be able to make a comeback? For now, talking about the first day, Yashasvi Jaiswal has won everyone's heart with his class, hard work, and talent. It will be interesting to see whether his coach's prediction proves correct or not.
