IPL 2025 has now reached its final stage where both the finalist will be competing for one last time for the 18th season trophy. On Tuesday, June 3, the final match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have not won the IPL title even once, so this time a new champion is going to be emerged. But before the match, the biggest concern is the weather in Ahmedabad. In the recent qualifier-2, the match was disrupted due to rain, and now there is a possibility of rain on the day of the final. In such a situation, the question arises that what will happen if the rain interrupts the game? Will the final be canceled or will the winner be decided in some other way?
The BCCI and IPL have already made elaborate arrangements to deal with such a situation. If the final is not completed on June 3 due to rain or any other reason, then the match will be played on a reserve day on the next day i.e. June 4. The match will start from where it stopped. Apart from this, an extra time of 120 minutes (two hours) has also been kept to complete the final match, so that the match can be completed in any condition. If the overs had to be cut due to rain, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) rule would apply. But for this, it is necessary that both teams get a chance to play at least 5-5 overs. If both teams are unable to play even 5 overs, it will not be possible to draw a result through DLS and the match will be considered canceled.
If the final match is not played on both June 3 and June 4, then the winner will be decided on the basis of the performance of the league stage. That is, the team which has been in the first place in the points table will be declared the winner. In this situation, Punjab Kings can benefit, as they have been above RCB in the league stage. If somehow the weather is a little better and the entire match or the game of 5-5 overs is not possible, but there is a little scope of time, then the umpires can take the result through the super over. The Super Over can be done when the match is tied or the game is not even enough to apply the DLS rule.
