During the ODI tri-nation series match between Pakistan and South Africa, Shaheen Afridi was seen involved in an on-field altercation with Matthew Breetzke. This incident occurred when Shaheen deliberately stopped the way of Breetzke while he was going for a single. The situation gets a bit tense in the game so that the officials came to intervene to stop the verbal exchange between the two.
Earlier, Shaheen stated that his actions towards Breetzke were to break his concentration and get successful in taking his wicket. He said,
"For the first time, Matthew didn't say anything. I kept teasing him to get a wicket. Whatever happened on the field stayed there. Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends."
The Pakistan fast bowler was penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with a 25 percent match fee for violating Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which states the inappropriate physical contact during international matches.
He also discussed the challenges the team is facing in the final overs.
"We admit that we haven't been performing well in the final overs."
In the tri-nation series opening clash against New Zealand, Naseem Shah and Shaheen bowled the death overs where Glenn Phillips in return smashed the bowlers with 71 runs in the last four overs. The same thing was seen during the game against South Africa, where Khushdil Shah, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Hasnain bowled the last overs, giving away 46 runs, which helped South Africa to a total of 352/5.
