Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin did not hesitate in roasting the England star batter Harry Brook, who stated 'smog' for his dismissal in the first T20I against India. Brook once again got out by Varun Chakravarthy in Chennai, where there was no smog. Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2024 against Australia. The thing he noticed in the game was that the England batter was not able to read the delivery by the Indian spinner.
In a recent YouTube video of Ashwin on his channel Ash Ki Baat, he talks about Brook's dismissal against Varun Chakravarthy. He stated that there was no smog in Chennai and gave him advice for upcoming matches.
"There was no smog there in Chennai. Harry Brook had earlier stated that there was smog in Kolkata, so picking Varun Chakravarthy was difficult. I want to say one thing to Harry Brook: 'Please understand that Varun Chakravarthy doesn't bowl leg spin that much. It is googly."
Talking about Brook's dismissal, Ashwin said that the England batter needs to understand the delivery and take the next step; otherwise, the same will be repeated in the whole series.
"You moved to the leg stump and couldn't read the delivery, so you got bowled. Then you covered the stump and took a big stride, but couldn't read the googly; you got bowled again."
"No matter how the light is, if you are not reading the googly out of his hand, you are just not reading the delivery out of his hand."
In the ongoing T20I series, Varun Chakravarthy has taken 5 wickets in the opening two matches.
The third T20I between India and England will be played on January 28, Tuesday, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
