The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been won by Australia by 184 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). After the conclusion of the Melbourne Test between India and Australia in the ongoing series, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri talked about the turning point of the crucial of the Boxing Day Test.
Ravi Shastri revealed that the turning point in the game was Rishabh Pant's wicket. They already knew at lunchtime that they could not win the game when they lost three wickets. When Pant got out after tea that was the time when Australians knew they could win the Test.
"I think the turning point was the wicket of Rishabh Pant. They knew they couldn't win the game by lunchtime once they lost three wickets. The only chance you have of winning is if there's a platform set, exactly what Rohit said. And then, when Rishabh Pant got out after tea, that lifted the Australians. That was the opening they were looking for, and they made sure to capitalize on it."
A huge amount of audience came to witness this game, over 74,000 people attended the contest between two arch-rivals which came to an end before 14 overs. Nathan Lyon took the final wicket of Mohammed Siraj. With this win in the fourth Test, Australia now leads the series at 2-1 and has a high chance of winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India still has a chance to draw the series by winning the forthcoming Sydney Test.
