The fourth BGT test will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground starting December 2024. However, a new tension has arisen for the Indian side as skipper Rohit Sharma was struck on his left knee while batting in the nets, giving an unwelcome injury scare. Rohit took a hit while facing India’s throwdown expert, Daya, and was immediately seen getting uncomfortable. He attempted to bat for a while longer but ultimately chose to leave.
According to a report, Rohit was batting during the second net session in Melbourne prior to the Boxing Day Test match. When the Indian team physio applied an ice pack to the injured area, Rohit was clearly in discomfort. Along with a few other staff members, Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal also gathered around Rohit.
While the injury scare is not severe enough to rule out Rohit from playing the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy test, it is definitely unwelcome. Unfortunately, KL Rahul also had an injury scare and was struck on the hand yesterday while batting. Now the Indian cricketing fans are recalling how India started the BGT training sessions before the series even started. Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul were among those who delivered blows. Shubman Gill also missed the first test after he suffered a finger injury.
If we talk about Rohit, the Boxing Day test at the MCG is very crucial for him. Rohit is yet to score big runs in the ongoing BGT series. He appears to be in an entirely different league, scoring fewer runs than Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep in the series. Rohit, along with Virat Kohli, will definitely be scrutinised in the upcoming test match. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series is currently tied at 1-1 after the third test at the Gabba ended in a draw due to rain. Both teams will look to take the lead in the Boxing Day Test.
