The decision on the Champions Trophy has all been made now stating the matches between the arch-rivals will be played at neutral venues. The clarity has been given on the most discussed tournament. But the discussion and frustration has not come to an end till now. Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has an interesting take on the news of the ICC’s hybrid model for upcoming tournaments. He stated that both the teams should build a stadium on their border and play their games in that place.

In a podcast with Nadar Ali, Ahmed was asked to put up his views on the hybrid model for upcoming tournaments. He said that India and Pakistan should build a stadium on the border so they can play against each other. He believes that with this decision the BCCI or Indian government will have an issue.

Pakistan with Champions Trophy title
“Build a stadium on the border. One gate should open in India, other in Pakistan. Their players can from there, our players can go from here. But again, I think BCCI or the Indian government will have an issue. They’ll say that when your player comes to field on our side, we’ll not give him visa for that.”

Further, he said that this time Pakistan had got a golden chance to host India as all cricket boards signed the agreement in 2021 that Pakistan will be hosting the Champions Trophy, but now the ICC have backed off.

“Pakistan had a golden chance to host India. All cricket boards have signed the agreement in 2021 that Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy. ICC cannot back off.”

With all these things, it should be noted that Pakistan will also not visit India for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
