The Australian skipper Pat Cummins talked about the fiery incident that happened between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Adelaide Oval. Both the players were seen in a heated argument which caught everyone’s attention. After Head was bowled out by Siraj, both players were seen exchanging a few words in anger and Siraj even gave him a fiery send-off, which became the highlight of the day’s play.
Travis Head played a tremendous knock of 140 off 141 balls in the day-night match of the pink-ball Test. Australia bounced back after the loss they faced in the opening Test of the BGT. They won the second Test by 10 wickets and leveled the series by 1-1. Both the teams will be playing the third Test of the series at the Gabba from December 14. India will try to pull this match in their favor, which will level up their rank in the World Test Championship (WTC) tables.
Pat Cummins said that Travis Head is the vice-captain of the team and is a big boy, mature person who can talk for himself. Hence, he doesn’t need anyone to intervene in between.
“Travis Head is vice-captain of the team, so he’s a big boy. He can talk for himself. As a general rule, you normally let the boys be themselves. If you ever need to step in to intervene as captain, I would, but as I said, for our group, I’ve never felt like I’ve needed to do that.”
Further talking about the series, Cummins said that it is a big series, so a lot is riding on it. And it is up to them. They can do whatever they want to do.
“It’s a big series so a lot is riding on it. The umpire stepped in pretty quickly and that was the end of it. To be honest, they can do whatever they want. I’m more worried about our boys. Like always, I thought our boys’ behavior was excellent this week like it seems to be every week.”
