On Tuesday, November 26, at the Queen's Sports Club in Bulawayo, Saim Ayub scored the joint-third fastest century by a Pakistani batsman in ODIs. The visitors made a comeback in the three-match series against Zimbabwe and won the match by 10 wickets. After losing the opening game by 80 runs (DLS), Pakistan made a comeback in the second match and chased down a target of 146 runs with 31.4 overs remaining in their innings. Ayub scored a century in just 53 balls.
Left-handed batsman and Abdullah Shafique dominated Zimbabwe by scoring 148 runs for the first wicket. Shafique played a very important role by playing an unbeaten knock of 32 runs, but Ayub shot freely.
Ayub scored 113 runs off 62 balls with the help of 17 fours and three sixes. The left-handed batsman completed his half-century with a six off Trevor Gwandu and completed his three-point score with a four off Sikandar Raza. The record for scoring the fastest 100 runs by a Pakistani batter is still in name of Shahid Afridi, who smashed a hundred in 37 balls.
Apart from the awesomeness of his bat, Ayub also made a big contribution with the ball and took the wicket of Sean Williams. For Zimbabwe, Myers scored 33 and Williams scored 31 runs respectively. The third and final ODI will be played on November 28, Thursday.
