BGT: Shubman Gill doubtful 2nd Test due to Thumb Injury!

Shubman Gill's serious thumb injury makes him doubtful for the second Test in Adelaide, says team sources.

Nishant Poonia

Team India's young batsman Shubman Gill's injury has caused big trouble for the team. Gill suffered a finger injury while fielding in the slips during practice before the first Test in Perth. Because of this, he could not play the first Test. It is now reported that his injury is so serious that he will hardly be able to play in the second Test in Adelaide from December 6.

According to sources, the medical team has advised Shubman Gill to take rest for 10-14 days. Due to this, he will not be able to take part in the two-day practice match to be held this week. The concern of the team management is that even if Gill's injury heals in time, he will need match fitness and practice. In such a situation, the possibility of playing in his second Test is very low.

"Gill's injury will take time to heal completely," a team source said. After the injury, he will need quality practice, but at the moment he does not appear to be available for the practice match and the second Test. ”

Former selector Jatin Paranjpe said that it may take at least 2-4 weeks to recover from the finger injury. He believes that in such a situation, Gill may have to miss 2-3 Test matches.

No plans for Shami

Reports of Mohammed Shami being sent to Australia have been denied. According to sources, the BCCI has no intention of including Shami in the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the moment. Shami is currently playing for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and has been performing well after recovering from his old ankle injury.

With the absence of Gill and Shami not being included in the team, Team India may have to face a challenging situation.
