T20 cricket is a fast-paced format that provides immense amusement and excitement to the cricketing fans. The format requires quick scoring from the batsman as it is a short format. In T20 cricket, players get to show their skills of scoring quick runs and leading their teams to huge scores. The history of the format has witnessed numerous Indian batsmen who have showcased extraordinary batting and scored quick hundreds. Let’s have a look at the top 5 batsmen who have scored the fastest centuries in the format. 

#5 Abhishek Sharma 

The 24-year-old young Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma made his international T20 debut in July 2024 against Zimbabwe. Abhishek got out for a duck in his first match but proved his talent in the second match by scoring a hundred against Zimbabwe in just 46 balls. His hundred included seven fours and eight sixes. So far, Abhishek has played eight T20 matches for India and has shown his power-hitting abilities in few of them. 

#4 KL Rahul

India’s veteran batsman KL Rahul made his T20I debut in 2016. The same year, while playing against West Indies, when his team was chasing 246, when Rahul came to bat, he played risk-free and classy shots. When Rohit Sharma got dismissed, Rahul displayed more aggressive hitting and reached his maiden T20I century in 46 balls. He remained unbeaten on 110 off 51 balls, which included 12 fours and five sixes. Unfortunately, India lost that match by just one run.

#3 Suryakumar Yadav 

The T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav is currently one of the most consistent batsmen in the format. While playing against Sri Lanka, SKY first scored a fifty in 26 balls and then in another 19 balls, he reached his century in 45 balls. His innings of 112* included seven fours and nine sixes. Suryakumar has the ability to score runs on every side of the ground. So far, he has hit four hundred in the format.

#2 Sanju Samson 

Sanju Samson made his international T20 debut in 2015, but it was only recently that he reached his maiden T20I hundred. Samson scored his century against Bangladesh in just 40 balls. His knock of 111 runs included 11 fours and 8 sixes. Sanju displayed impressive batting and thrilled the spectators with this special inning. 

#1 Rohit Sharma 

The Hitman Rohit Sharma holds the record for scoring the fastest T20I hundred for India. Rohit achieved this feat against Sri Lanka in 2017, when he smashed a ton in just 35 balls. His fierce batting made it difficult for the opposition to make a comeback in the game. Sharma’s knock included 11 fours and eight sixes. He ended his innings with a score of 118 off 43 balls.
