Abhishek Sharma played a historic knock of 141 runs in 55 balls against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, making him the owner of the highest individual score scored by an Indian in IPL history. Yuvraj Singh jokingly praised him and wrote on X, 'Wow Sharma ji's son! Single at 98 then single at 99! I can't digest that much maturity. '

Abhishek Sharma's IPL 2025 campaign did not start well but on Saturday, he made a great comeback in the match against Punjab Kings and played a historic innings of 141 runs in 55 balls. With this innings, Abhishek became the highest individual scorer by an Indian in IPL history. He also received praise from his mentor and former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for this achievement.

Yuvraj has often heaped praise on Abhishek in a witty way and this time too, he praised his protégé's innings in the same way. He took the X to applaud Abhishek's incredible innings.

Writing about Abhishek's innings, Yuvraj joked that he had decided to take singles at 98 and 99 which was surprising. "Wow Sharmaji's son! Single at 98 then single at 99! I can't digest this maturity," Yuvraj wrote.

Yuvraj has been a mentor to Abhishek Sharma, who has become one of the most dangerous T20 openers in the world in the last one year.   Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Abhishek credited Yuvraj for his growth.

"Special mention to Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj sir), I have been talking to him,"  Abhishek said. He also appreciated the advice of India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav.  

Abhishek Sharma smashed 141 off 55 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad chase down a mammoth target of 246 runs with ease and beat Punjab Kings with eight wickets to spare. Abhishek and Travis Head shared the biggest 171-run partnership of this season.

Abhishek's 141 is now the third highest individual score in IPL history after Chris Gayle (175*) and Brendon McCullum (158).
