The incident took place on 23rd December 2024. The victim was an engineering student and was on campus with her boyfriend. Gnanasekaran threatened her by showing her a fake video of their intimate relationship and warned that he would share it with the university authorities. It is alleged that the student's friend was beaten up. She was then sexually assaulted. Gnanasekaran also made a video and threatened her repeatedly. Upset over the threat of not being seen again, the student lodged a complaint with the police. During this time, his family fully supported him.
