Air strike sirens have sounded in Chandigarh and Mohali, prompting officials to advise residents to stay indoors amid heightened Indo-Pak tensions. The alert follows a warning from the Air Force Station about a potential attack, leading to precautionary measures in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Strain persists between India and Pakistan in regions such as Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir. Concurrently, air raid alarms are being heard in Chandigarh and Mohali. On Friday, aerial alarms were activated throughout Chandigarh as a preventive action after the local Air Force Station issued a warning of a potential assault, according to an official statement. The Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh confirmed that an aerial warning of a possible attack had been received from the Air Force Station. Sirens are currently sounding, and individuals are urged to remain indoors and avoid balconies.

The Public Relations Officer of Amritsar District has advised residents to remain inside, turn off their lights, and draw their curtains for safety. The officer emphasized that everyone should stay indoors and away from windows, ensure lights are off, and cover windows with curtains. There is no cause for alarm. Sirens will be activated shortly, and another message will be sent once the weather improves.

Adequate security at the airport

Enhanced security measures have been implemented outside the Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar, with all airport operations halted until further notice. Airport ACP Yadvinder Singh confirmed that security is sufficient, and only airport personnel are permitted inside. Police are conducting regular patrols, and villagers have been informed about the necessary protocols. On Thursday night, the Indian Army successfully intercepted over 50 Pakistani drones in a major anti-drone operation along the Line of Control and International Borders.
