An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district on Thursday. The aircraft was badly burnt in the accident. It is a matter of relief that both pilots are safe. According to the information received, the accident took place near Bahreta Sani village in Karaira area of Shivpuri. The crashed aircraft was a Mirage 2000. The plane crashed into a field and caught fire. A large number of villagers reached the spot after the incident. A picture of the injured pilot has also surfaced. Villagers who reached the spot are taking care of them.

"A Mirage 2000 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior) on Thursday due to a system malfunction during a routine training sortie," an IAF spokesperson said on social media platform X. Both pilots ejected safely. An enquiry has been ordered by the Air Force to ascertain the cause of the accident. As soon as the information about the Air Force plane crash was received, the local administration team has left for the spot. The police have also reached the spot.
Both Pilots are Safe
The aircraft had taken off from the Gwalior airbase after it crashed in a field near a village in Shivpuri district, they said. Shivpuri Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mulay said, "Villagers informed that an aircraft crashed near Barheta Sunari village under Karera police station area. The Mirage aircraft had taken off from Gwalior airbase with two pilots. Both the pilots ejected safely and sustained minor injuries. A helicopter was sent to the spot to take the pilots from there.
