National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out extensive searches in three districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) case linked to the killing of non-locals. An NIA statement said that the case pertains to Chamyari in Amritsar (Punjab) where terrorists killed two civilians. Terrorists opened fire on them at Shalla Kadal in the Shaheed Ganj area of Srinagar on the evening of February 7, 2024. Searches were conducted on Tuesday at six locations in Srinagar, Budgam, and Sopore districts in the case registered by the NIA on June 15, 2024, on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

NIA Seizes Incriminating Material

NIA teams have seized several incriminating materials from the residential premises of supporters, activists and Overground Workers (OGWs) of the banned terror outfit Lashkar and its affiliate The Resistance Front ('TRF'). The suspects were involved in sheltering terrorists and providing logistical support. The NIA investigation into the case so far has revealed that the masterminds of Lashkar and TRF were in touch with youths in the Kashmir Valley to carry out attacks on non-locals as part of a conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India, the statement said.

The criminal conspiracy was allegedly planned using encrypted social media applications physically and through cyberspace. The NIA is examining the materials seized during the search and is continuing to investigate the case.
