Mahakumbh Mela Train Stoned Near Jalgaon, Passengers Safe

Tapti Ganga Express Attacked with Stones

The Tapti Ganga Express, running from Surat to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh Mela, was attacked with stones near Jalgaon in Maharashtra, damaging windows in the B6 coach. Passengers panicked, especially women and children, who feared for their lives during this dreaded and unexpected incident.

The train was passing through Maharashtra carrying many pilgrims on their way to the Shahi Snan in Uttar Pradesh during the Mahakumbh Mela when two attackers reportedly threw stones at it from an overbridge about a kilometer away, one stone having directly hit the B6 coach, which carried 36 passengers hailing from Surat-included are five children, six senior citizens, 13 women, and 12 men.

The stone pierced the window, but thankfully, no one suffered severe injury. However, this triggered a lot of panic among passengers.

As per the PRO of Central Railway, the RPF took quick action and sent four RPFs to escort the passengers to safety. A complaint was made regarding the incident, and the authorities are examining the CCTV footage for further details to catch the culprits.

The train completed its journey and reached Prayagraj next morning safely while the railway police continue to investigate the incident.
