A dense fog enveloped New Delhi on Sunday, resulting in a cold wave across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature in the capital was 12 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has issued a rain warning for the city, forecasting thunderstorms and hailstorms for the entire day. Images from India Gate revealed that visibility in the national capital was almost nonexistent, prompting people to seek refuge in night shelters at Safdarjung to avoid the severe weather.

Meanwhile, a thick fog blanketed New Delhi and the National Capital Region.

According to Vegpal Singh, a local resident, the night shelters offer two meals daily and adequate bedding and blankets for the residents. He said, "People taking shelter at night shelters here are being provided two meals a day and proper bedding and blankets. If any kind of treatment is needed, we take him to the nearby AIIMS hospital."

As per the IMD, light rain fell in the national capital on January 11, causing the temperature to fall to 7.7 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, a thick fog blanketed New Delhi and the National Capital Region. Similarly, heavy fog shrouded cities like Kanpur and Gwalior. In Kanpur, a gathering of senior citizens was seen warming themselves around a bonfire.

Delhi's temperature was 11 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, as per the data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). No flights were reported to be diverted or cancelled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, but numerous trains experienced delays because of fog.
