Underworld figure Chhota Rajan has been admitted to AIIMS for medical treatment today. A heavy security presence has been established by Delhi Police in the AIIMS ward where underworld figure Chhota Rajan is currently admitted. His condition remains unknown at this time.

As per the sources, Rajan has a sinus problem and the doctors have said that he might undergo surgery.

It is to be noted that he was imprisoned in Tihar Jail in Delhi. In 2024, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2001 murder of hotelier Jaya Shetty.

However, in October 2024, the Bombay High Court granted Rajan bail by suspending his life sentence in the same case.

On May 4, 2001, Shetty, the proprietor of the Golden Crown Hotel located in Gamdevi, central Mumbai, was fatally shot on the hotel's first floor.

The prosecution claims that the murder was carried out by members of an organized crime group led by Rajan. Ajay Mohite, along with Kundansingh Rawat from the syndicate, shot Shetty. He was apprehended on the spot and discovered to be in possession of lethal weapons.

Rajan aka Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje was arrested by Indonesian authorities in October 2015

After the conviction, the court sentenced the gangster to life imprisonment with stringent conditions and also imposed a fine of Rs 16 lakh. He is currently incarcerated at Tihar Jail in Delhi.

Rajan, originally named Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, was detained by Indonesian officials in October 2015 and subsequently extradited from Bali to India.

Having eluded arrest for almost thirty years, he was thought to be a close associate of the infamous underworld boss Dawood Ibrahim. With this conviction, Rajan has now been found guilty in seven cases, including six in Mumbai.
