Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday participated in the celebration of Veer Bal Diwas at Bharat Mandap in New Delhi. He met and interacted with the winners of the 2024 Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu presented the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 children in seven categories for their unique achievements at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. On this occasion, PM Modi will also launch the Suposhan Gram Panchayat Abhiyan.
According to a PMO release, the Suposhan Gram Panchayat Abhiyan aims to improve nutrition outcomes and well-being by strengthening the implementation of nutrition-related services and ensuring active community participation. Various initiatives will also be undertaken across the country to engage young minds, promote awareness about the importance of the day and promote a culture of courage and dedication towards the nation, the PMO release said.
A series of online competitions including interactive quizzes will be conducted through MyGov and MyBharat portals. Interesting activities like storytelling, creative writing and poster making will be undertaken in schools, child care institutions and Anganwadi centers.
On January 9, 2022, PM Modi announced that December 26 will be observed as 'Veer Bal Diwas' to honour the valor of the Sahibzadas (sons of Guru Gobind Singh) and the pursuit of justice. Earlier, PM Modi paid homage to the 'Sahibzadas' and recalled their bravery and sacrifice.
