Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha Leveled Serious Accusations
This young man was murdered because he was a Dalit and was protecting the Constitution, Rahul Gandhi told reporters. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha alleged that the ideology of the RSS is to destroy the Constitution, adding that the matter should be resolved immediately. We want this matter to be resolved immediately and those who have done this should be punished. No politics is being done... The ideology is responsible because the CM has made this statement so the CM is responsible, those who killed him are responsible and action should be taken as soon as possible," he said. Suryavanshi's Demise While in Custody
Violence erupted in Parbhani town on December 10 after an alleged vandalism of a replica of the Indian Constitution. Nanded Special Inspector General Shahaji Umap had earlier said that around 50 people have been arrested and eight cases registered in connection with the violence. The family members of the deceased Somnath Suryawanshi have demanded death penalty for the accused police officer in whose custody Suryavanshi had died. Premnath Suryawanshi, brother of the slain Dalit activist, told the media, "The police did not give any information about my brother after arresting him.''
Victim's family Demands Justice
On December 15, the day my brother died, they only told me that my brother had died of a heart attack. Those involved in this incident should be punished. There is no use in suspending them. They should be punished because they killed my brother. We want them to be hanged. We will say the same to Rahul Gandhi," he said. The officer clarified that all arrests were made on the spot and added that a deputy superintendent of police and nine other police personnel sustained minor injuries during the disturbance.
