Delhi School Receives Bomb Threat

New Delhi: A private school in Delhi's Dwarka area received a bomb threat on Friday, police said. Emergency response teams have been rushed to the school and classes have been shifted to online mode, the Delhi Police said. More details are awaited.

This is not the first time that such threats have been reported in schools in the national capital. On December 14, the Special Branch of the Delhi Police identified a private school student as the person who sent a bomb threat email to Paschim Vihar school. According to the police, the student had sent the threatening email to his school and after tracing the IP address, the police team traced his house.

Total 30 Schools Across Delhi Recieves Threats

On questioning, the child confessed to the act and was later counselled. She was let off after warning her parents to keep an eye on her behaviour. On December 14 and 17, several schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails. Further, on December 13, fake bomb threat emails were sent to a total of 30 schools across Delhi.

E-mails came from Foreign country

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South East Delhi, Ravi Kumar Singh, while talking about the bomb threat on December 13, said that investigation into the fake threats has revealed that the e-mails sent to schools were made from outside the country. On December 13, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Friday expressed serious concern about repeated bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital.

Psychological and Academic Impact on Children

Questioning the possible psychological and academic impact on children, Kejriwal said if such incidents continued unchecked, it could hamper their studies and health. On November 19, the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi government and the police to develop a comprehensive action plan, including a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), to deal with bomb threats and related emergencies. The court set a deadline of eight weeks to fulfil these directions
