The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, the largest minority group in Bangladesh, on Thursday condemned the attacks on Hindus in eastern Sunamganj district, the group said in a statement. The press release titled "Ekta Parishad strongly opposes attack on hundreds of minority houses at Mangalargaon in Sunamganj" said, "On the night of December 3, 2024, more than 100 houses and business establishments of the Hindu community were attacked, vandalised and looted in Mangalargaon of Dorabazar and Monigaon East Gunigram in Sunamganj.

The Dora Bazar Loknath temple has suffered heavy damage in the attack. The amount of damage is at least Tk 15 lakh. The residence of the local upazila puja udakar parishad president Guru Dey and the family temple were also heavily damaged in the attack.
