13-day rally Organized by the Headquarters of Puducherry Naval Region

The Indian Navy's Sea Riders Odyssey 2024 bike rally is scheduled to commence on December 4, 2024, as part of the Navy Day 2024 celebrations.

Organised by the Headquarters of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area in association with Royal Enfield, Orazzo and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, the 13-day rally will cover a distance of approximately 2500 km through various locations in Tamil Nadu.

The cities include Puducherry, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Trichy, Karaikudi, Dhanushkodi, Rameswaram, Valliyur, Madurai, Kodaikanal, Sainik School in Amaravatipudur, Coimbatore, Wellington, Salem and Vellore.

Spread Awareness about the Contribution of the Indian Navy to National Security

The rally will culminate at INS Adyar in Chennai on December 16, 2024, where it will be welcomed by Rear Admiral Ravi Kumar Dhingra, Flag Officer Commanding, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Region.

The objective of the rally is to spread awareness about the Indian Navy's contribution to national security and instill pride in the general public. The participants will visit schools, colleges and heritage sites promoting the values and achievements of the Navy.

Interestingly, Royal Enfield has a history of organizing epic bike rallies like Himalayan Odyssey, covering challenging terrain of over 3000 kilometres.

Navy Day in India is celebrated every year on 4 December to commemorate the role of the Indian Navy in Operation Trident during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

Tribute to Martyrs who Lost their Lives During War

The operation showcased the bravery and capabilities of the Indian Navy, in which four Pakistani ships including PNS Khyber were sunk. The day is also a tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during the war.

On this day, Indian Navy's efforts aim to promote greater reach, renew maritime consciousness and highlight the Navy's contribution to national security.

To celebrate Navy Day, various events take place across the country, including operational performances, band concerts, wreath laying ceremony, visits to schools and colleges, etc.

The Navy opens its ships and submarines to visitors, giving them a glimpse of the Navy's capabilities and equipment. This year, the Indian Navy will celebrate Navy Day on December 4, 2024, at Puri in Odisha.

24 Warships and 40 Aircraft will Participate in the Operational Demonstration

The event will be graced by the President of India Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest. This year's ceremony promises to be a grand event, with 24 warships and 40 aircraft participating in the operational display.

The event will also witness stealth operations by Marine Commandos (MARCOS), showcasing the readiness and commitment of the Indian Navy towards the security of the country. The event will also serve as a tribute to India's rich maritime heritage.
