Assam: According to a press statement by Assam Rifles, the Assam Rifles recovered 107 grams of heroin worth Rs 74.90 lakh and arrested three persons in two joint operations with the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Mizoram.

while the third accused caught in the second operation has been identified as Lalchavisangi (35), a resident of Champhai in Mizoram.
Based on specific intelligence, officers of Assam Rifles and Anti-Narcotics Squad conducted two separate joint operations on Wednesday. The contraband was being carried by the suspects in transparent polythene covers.
According to the release, the entire consignment along with the apprehended persons has been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Excise and Narcotics Department of Mizoram for further legal proceedings.
Earlier, Assam Rifles and police recovered a huge consignment of methamphetamine tablets and heroin worth Rs 85.95 crore in two separate operations at Zokhawthar in Mizoram, officials said on Wednesday.
"In a significant breakthrough against drug cartels, based on accurate intelligence, Assam Rifles seized 28.520 kg of Methamphetamine and 52 grams of Heroin No. 4 valued at Rs 85.95 crore in two separate operations on 20 Nov 24," the official release said.
This substantial recovery is another milestone in Assam Rifles' relentless efforts to eliminate the drug menace from Mizoram and protect India's borders from the growing menace of drug trafficking. "
